(RE-)Introducing…. Office Games!

Well, Avatar NIS 3 is primed and ready to go out on Thursday. And, if things go well, there will be another chapter the following Thursday (that’s right! Gasp! Two in two weeks!). Most likely the schedule will go back to once every two weeks after that. That’ll depend on my time, etc.

I’m not writing this entry specifically because of NIS, however. I have a different reason.

Shameless Self Promotion.

Yup, that’s me. Shamelessly Self-Promoting well … me. Of course, you’re wondering what the hell I’m talking about. Or you’ve moved on to a more interesting blog.

I’m talking about a story I wrote a long time ago called Office Games. It has been re-edited (and trust me, it needed it!) and put up for sale on a website, where, if all goes well, I intend to sell something else I’m working on. Here is the link to the site (WAY NOT WORK SAFE!!!), and, if you’re so inclined, you can always make a note here (anonymously or not) letting me know that you picked up a copy. It’s $5.40. Of course, I don’t get that huge amount of money per copy. But I get something, and it opens me up to a whole new audience. And it lets me know that people really will pay to read what I write.

I thought that Office Games was a pretty good book. It received a Golden Clitoride award for Best BDSM story the year it came out. But it’s got romance and kinky sex, so what is there not to like? It’s marked as rather mild on the site (meaning not all that hard core) but you guys know me, right? How mild could it be?

Finally, for those of you who are wondering, I have no intention of abandoning Avatar. The world I have built is just too big and too rich to do that.

About Dark Pen

I am Dark Pen. I write BDSM stories, almost always with plot and consider myself a Soldier in the battle against America's war on sex.

I`d buy a copy simply because i love your avatar series so damn much. 🙂
But they wouldn`t let it through customs where I live. 😦
P.S. I`m not in the middle east

Office Games is great – I read it on asstr a while ago and hence led me to your other stories like Avatar.
I might be tempted to buy it in book form, but probably not as a download, not since I might even have some chapters in my download area if I check thouroughly enough 🙂

    That’s funny
I was just about to comment about how I’ve been thinking about Avatar so much that I wanted to buy it in book form. Hell, it was horrible enough having to read one of my favorite stories on a computer screen with all the associated keystrokes. How un-romantic.
I have two requests: the complete avatar series when NIS is done for under $50 in hardcover.
And/or: the complete DarkPen series for the same price in softcover.
Please no more eBooks whatever you do. My eyes hurt me when I read the web enough and I’m only 21 and in great health.

And it’d have to be uncensored. I’d rather go to an adult bookstore or a family-owned Mom + Pop store than see your work edited that way. I’m not sure if it it’s too hardcore for the bookstore I used to work at. Either way, I hope you can find a brick and mortar chain to sell to.
Again, I really really like your ideas.

Just to go on…sorry for the numerosity of my anonymous comments but I can’t edit my previous ones and I like seperating ideas. My name is Bob and I want to see your book sell in a paper form. It doesn’t have to be hardcover, and in fact, it would be easier to do something right from everyday equipment as taught in John T. Reed’s book on the subject.
First of all, I never met Mr. Reed nor do I get paid by him. Because of him I’ve spent $30 plus the book I’m mentioning below. That’s all. And I liked “Succeeding” See the link below for basic samples and his sales pitch.
“Self-publishing your own how-to books is lucrative if you sell a lot of a few books or a few of a lot of books. John T. Reed has long made a six-figure net income from his self-publishing. If you only write and publish one book, you can realistically expect to make around $6,000 a year if you enjoy modest success. That’s $6,000 a year for the rest of your life. Actually, it’s $6,000 for the rest of your life plus 70 years. That’s when the copyright runs out. So if they are interested, your heirs can benefit from the book after you are gone.”
I don’t know what Mr. Reed suggests as far publishing the book but I will buy it and figure it out. Kinkos can print out books but it’s expensive. I once did it for an online dating book and it cost me $30+ for a $30 eBook that was a few hundred pages. Not having to read that book online like the rest of them was priceless. Paper is paper.
Selling from home allows you to avoid censorship too. You can still offer an eBook to people in foreign countries with archaic problems with your stories. Be an entrepreneur, be big. Fill up my bookshelf.

I don’t think that you’ll be seeing the Avatar books in paper anytime soon. Actually, ever. Getting published is not easy. Self publishing is not… usually viable. Avatar would never be picked up by even the not-so ‘main stream’ BDSM publishers, because everyone’s paraniod about ‘child porn.’ Despite the fact that there is no child porn in Avatar, it doesn’t matter. The narrow minded moralists out there would totally freak out because some of the charactors are fifteen.
On the other hand, I am working on something brand new, that I’ll eventually put in to (sorry) eBook format. So keep yer eye out.

Am so glad to hear not letting such a great story line go and will have to check out the game. I finally got a chance to be able to get to reading book 2 and when I got to the end of chap 14 Had to go looking and was so pleasently surprised to see 15-20 were there. Have turned a couple of others to the series and one comment was will never catchup though I know better.
Have enjoyed the series greatly and always look back to the site for it. Can only say thank you very much for the fun and enjoyment you have given me.
